Ealing North James Murray MP gets new Treasury role

Ealing North MP James Murray has been given a Government promotion, becoming Chief Secretary to the Treasury after serving as Exchequer Secretary.

The reshuffle follows Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s decision to appoint cabinet minister Darren Jones as Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, moving him from his previous role at the Treasury.

Ealing Southall MP Deirdre Costigan welcomed the news, posting on X: “Congratulations to my constituency neighbour & Ealing North MP @jamesmurray_ldn on being promoted to Chief Secretary to the Treasury where I know he will do a fantastic job! Great news also about @darrenpjones & fellow London MP @Dan4Barnet who has been laser focused on growth.”

Mr Murray’s former Treasury post will be taken up by Dan Tomlinson, the newly elected MP for Chipping Barnet.
