Candidates from the Rejoin EU Party are standing in six wards across Ealing in this Thursday’s Ealing Council local elections (7 May), as voters head to the polls to elect councillors.
The party, which campaigns for the UK to rejoin the European Union, has confirmed it is fielding six candidates: Mohd Mofiz Uddin in Dormers Wells, Georgie Louise Hare in Ealing Broadway, Raj Thanga in Greenford Broadway, Peter Mark Ward in Hanger Hill, Taslema Akhter in Hanwell Broadway, and Kamlesh Mehta in North Acton.
Labour has controlled Ealing Council since 2010 and holds 56 of the 70 council seats. The Liberal Democrats have eight, the Conservatives four, while two councillors are independents.
Peter Mark Ward, Rejoin EU Party candidate for Hanger Hill, said: “Brexit has been an unmitigated failure and these elections give Ealing voters the opportunity to send a message that the UK needs to rejoin the EU.”
He added that electing Rejoin EU councillors would signal support for reversing Brexit.
Richard Morley, leader of the Rejoin EU Party, said: “Nearly 10 years after the Brexit vote, the consequences are clear and it is time for Britain to return to the EU.”
