A new study has found that in October 2024 17,830 people across Ealing were claiming unemployment benefit, a rise of 28.9% compared to 13,855 in October 2023.
The data, from the Office for National Statistics of those aged 16-65, revealed that Ealing was ranked at number 17 of all councils across the country with nearly 7,000 claims per 100,000 people.

The data, analysed by financial website Afforda, also revealed that neighbouring borough Brent was at number six and had 18,905 people claiming unemployment benefit with 7,933 claims per 100,000 people in the borough.
Outside the top 20 was Hounslow where 11,405 people claim unemployment benefit with 5,734 claims per 100,000 people in the borough.
