Students learn about construction at Old Oak Common

Students from Ealing as well as Brent and Hammersmith & Fulham have taken part in a week long course to learn about the construction industry by joining with HS2 contractors at Acton’s Old Oak Common.

The group of six form and college students met project managers and other key staff working on the development of HS2.

The special course, Construkt, was developed and run by social enterprise Serious About Youth (SAY).

Serious About Youth co-founder Rommell Wallace said: “The fantastic support and involvement of the contractors at Old Oak Common enabled us to produce a highly engaging and educational variant of Construkt.”

Mr Wallace added: “Like all our courses, it will be the catalyst for another group of young people entering the construction industry, but we cannot do it without the support from the sector itself.”
