A Park Royal banqueting hall and its director have been ordered to pay more than £14,000 after admitting food hygiene offences following two mouse infestations and continuing to trade despite being ordered to close.
Shaam Hall Limited, trading as Shaam Hall in Coronation Road, and director Yama Folad each pleaded guilty to three offences at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court earlier this month (8 September 2026).
Mr Folad was ordered to pay £5,433.60 in fines, costs and a victim surcharge, while the company was ordered to pay £8,668.60.
Ealing Council officers first discovered evidence of a mouse infestation during an inspection in March 2025, with droppings found in the kitchen and food and equipment storage areas.
The venue was ordered to close immediately because officers considered there was an imminent risk to public health.
However, when they returned later that month, officers found it open with a large number of customers inside and a hot buffet, including rice and curries, being served.
The business was subsequently allowed to reopen, but another inspection in October 2025 found further evidence of mice and resulted in a second closure.
Shaam Hall received a food hygiene rating of zero following both inspections.
It has since improved and currently has a food hygiene rating of three out of five following an inspection in June 2026.
Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, said: “Food businesses have a responsibility to keep food safe and protect their customers from harm.
“When council officers find conditions that put public health at risk, they will take the strongest action they can. This case shows that businesses which wilfully ignore food safety laws can face serious consequences.”
