Councillor Gary Malcolm, leader of Ealing Liberal Democrats shares his latest update.
Now that the three Ealing by-elections have now been called and are all on the same day, 10 October 2024, the most interesting is the Hanger Hill by-election.
Hanger Hill for many years had only Conservative Councillors but in 2022 Councillor Athena Zissimos won a seat from the Tories and has been active in fixing many problems for the residents who are from both Ealing and Acton.

The Liberal Democrat candidate Jonathan Oxley stood in the 2022 local elections and was nearly elected with Athena Zissimos.
With his hi-energy campaign he has been listening to residents (with a ward wide crime survey) as well as fixing issues for residents across the area, whether it be a dumped mattress or a housing issue.
Such has the focus been on Hanger Hill the attention has attracted four Liberal Democrat MPs to visit including Sarah Olney MP (Richmond), Paul Kohler MP (Wimbledon), Luke Taylor MP (Sutton and Cheam) and Olly Glover MP (Didcot and Wantage).
Residents seem to want the Liberal Democrats to win the seat as we have achieved numerous successes as Ealing’s official opposition to Ealing Labour including:
Getting the Labour Council to reverse its plans to build on Warren Farm destroying around 20 endangered species.
Reverse the Labour Council’s light dimming so every street it brighter and hopefully giving more reassurance to people travelling back late in the evening or early mornings.
The voters in Hanger Hill are having to make a choice between hardworking Liberal Democrats who are looking to make our area cleaner and safer or more Conservatives who take our area for granted.
If Jonathan Oxley is the winner, then he would be a fine credit to the Liberal Democrat official opposition group.
