North Acton Papa Johns Pizza scores zero rating

A branch of Papa Johns Pizza in North Acton has been given a Food Standards Agency rating of zero, the lowest possible food hygiene rating after inspectors identified several areas requiring urgent improvement.

The takeaway, at Unit A, Lyra Court on Portal Way, received the zero rating following an inspection on 12 January 2026  Ratings range from zero to five, with five indicating very good standards. A score of zero means urgent improvement is necessary.

According to the inspection report, concerns were raised across all three assessed categories: hygienic food handling, the cleanliness and condition of the premises, and the management of food safety.

Safety inspectors said urgent improvements were needed in the hygienic handling of food, including how it is prepared, cooked, cooled and stored.

The report also highlighted issues and concerns with the condition and cleanliness of the premises, including aspects such as layout, ventilation, hand-washing facilities and pest control.

Food safety management at the site was also judged to require urgent improvement, with inspectors assessing whether systems and checks are in place to ensure food sold to customers is safe to eat.

A Papa Johns Pizza spokesperson said: “Following a routine inspection on January 12, our Acton restaurant was temporarily closed while the franchise owner addressed the issues identified by the local authority.

“All required corrective actions were implemented and the local authority subsequently allowed the restaurant to reopen. A re-rate request has been submitted and the franchise owner welcomes a further visit to ensure the improvements made are reflected in an updated rating.”
