Festive giving at Ealing Broadway shopping centre

Ealing Broadway shopping centre is supporting two community initiatives this winter, with a coat collection and a Christmas “giving tree” aimed at helping residents facing hardship.

The centre’s annual Winter Coat Donation campaign received more than 500 coats, which will be distributed to people in need across London. The scheme, organised with the charity Calling London, asked visitors to donate clean, good-quality coats for adults and children. Donations included wool coats, ski jackets and duffle coats. Organisers said none of the items would be sold.

Alongside the coat appeal, the centre is running a Giving Tree in partnership with Home-Start Ealing, a charity that supports families with young children. Until 9 December 2025, residents can pick tags from a tree inside the Jamaica Blue cafe, each showing a gift request from a local family. Purchased items are returned unwrapped to a collection box and will be distributed at Home-Start’s Christmas event.

Andrew Rollings, Ealing Broadway’s centre director, said the initiatives were intended to make it easier for visitors to support others during the festive period. He said: “These small acts of kindness can bring warmth and joy to people across our community this winter.”
