Felix Project publishes 2024 impact report

Park Royal-based food rescue charity The Felix Project has published its latest annual impact report which has revealed that in 2024 it prevented almost 16,000 tonnes of surplus food from going to waste.

According to the charity it saved the equivalent of 38M meals.  The food is distributed to over 1,200 organisations including food banks, homeless shelters and primary schools.

Charlotte Hill OBE, CEO of The Felix Project said: “2024 has been a record-breaking year. The Felix Project has been busier than ever, rescuing more food and feeding more people and I am so proud of the fact that half the food we gave out was fresh fruit and vegetables.”

Ms Hill added: “The cost of living crisis is not going away. Every week more people are struggling to afford to feed their families and having to turn to food support services for help. It is vital The Felix Project works efficiently to rescue as much high-quality food as possible and ensure the organisations and schools we support can give out the balanced and nutritious food that people need to thrive.”

The impact report also includes the performance of Felix’s Multibank in Greenford which is the London location of the multibank network, started by online giant Amazon and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Opened in 2024, it offers hygiene and cleaning products, clothes, household goods, shoes and children’s toys to those in need.

The multibank site was visited by James Murray, MP for Ealing North who met with the charity’s staff and volunteers, representatives from Amazon and spoke to Hanwell2Hanwell, one of 29 organisations to be given food by The Felix Project in North Ealing.

Mr Murray said: “It was fantastic to visit The Felix Project to see how their Multibank in Greenford works and to meet some of their amazing volunteers. I was also really glad to meet Hanwell2Hanwell who do such important work with the Multibank to help people living in Ealing North.”

Mr Murray added: “It is shocking to think that, without their work, the items at Felix’s Multibank – from toiletries to children’s clothes – could have gone to waste. I was very glad to see these items, as well as food from The Felix Project, are getting to those in need. I wish The Felix Project and their partners all the best of luck for 2025 and beyond.”
