Ealing Reform UK backs Heathrow expansion

Reform UK members in Ealing have backed a third runway at Heathrow, as the long-running debate over airport expansion resurfaces ahead of May’s local elections.

More than 40 party members from across London attended a presentation by campaign group Back Heathrow last Friday (27 March 2026), where plans for the proposed runway were outlined.

Back Heathrow, which says it represents more than 100,000 supporters, said it would continue to work across political parties to build backing for the scheme.

Parmjit Dhanda, executive director of Back Heathrow, said: “The case for Heathrow expansion is crystal clear, and we now need continuous and active support from across the political spectrum to deliver this project. We will continue to campaign with all political parties, and this was a very productive event with Reform UK activists from across London.”

He added: “We represent over 100,000 people who support a third runway. We know it has the potential to be a vote winner, not a vote loser, particularly at a time when the UK economy is facing such strong headwinds.”

Steve Chillcott, chair of Reform UK’s Ealing branch, pointed to the airport’s role in the local economy, particularly in Southall. He said: “Heathrow is a huge source of employment for people across the Borough of Ealing – particularly Southall. Maintaining its future and continued success is incredibly important for thousands of local people.”

Mr Chillcott added: “Ealing Reform strongly supports the third runway to maintain Heathrow as the main airport hub for the UK. It was fantastic seeing so many of my Ealing colleagues there on the night.”

Alex Wilson, a Reform UK London Assembly member, told attendees the project had been delayed for more than 20 years and said expansion would support economic growth.
