Ealing Council has issued a warning to ticket holders and prospective attendees of the PALOP Festival, due to take place at Elthorne Park on Saturday (26 July 2025), that the event has been cancelled.
Event cancellation was confirmed earlier this month (15 July 2025) and production company, Lollipop Events, has worked to get the promoter to notify the public of the cancellation. However, the promoter has not responded to any calls or emails from the council and it is still promoting the event on its website and social media and is continuing to sell tickets to the cancelled London event.
The festival build at Elthorne Park in Hanwell was due to begin on Wednesday (23 July 2025), but according to Ealing Council, no infrastructure has been installedl and any on-site activity would be unauthorised. The council’s events, security and park services are on alert to prevent an event being set up at the park this Saturday and the council has informed the police about their concerns regarding the cancelled festival.
An Ealing Council spokesperson said: “We are concerned tickets are still being sold via the event website and the event’s website and Instagram account has not been updated to reflect the cancellation. Attempts to contact the promoter directly have been unsuccessful.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates when we receive them.”
Ealing Council raised awareness of the cancellation on social media but is concerned after seeing this message from Lauren Waterman on X:
“I just bought tickets for this today since they are continuing (even today) to post on instagram that it is happening on Saturday. It sounds like they are actively lying! They are trying to continue to sell tickets to a cancelled event. Emails to them bounce back.”
Late on Friday (25 July 2025) afternoon, Ealing Council confirmed it had finally heard from the promoter, who has since issued a formal cancellation notice.
Lollipop Events provided a statement on behalf of the organisers, VIP Production Limited: “It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the London edition of PALOP Festival on 26th July. Despite our team’s tireless efforts and unwavering passion, unforeseen circumstances have made it impossible to proceed with the London event in a way that meets the standards our community rightly expects and deserves.
“This decision does not affect the PALOP Festival in Leeds on 27th July, which will go ahead as planned.
“To our London ticket holders: We are offering transport to the Leeds event in lieu of a refund. If this is not suitable, refunds will be issued and further details will be communicated directly.”
According to organisers, PALOP Festival is a celebration of music – including Afrobeats, Afrohouse, Brazilian funk and world music – alongside food, performances and community activities.
