Ealing has recorded over 2,300 car crashes over the past year, making it the London borough with the fifth highest number of road traffic collisions, according to newly released data.
Figures for 2024/25 obtained by Accident Claims Advice reveal the Metropolitan Police Service logged 2,313 collisions in Ealing. The borough also recorded 2 pedestrian deaths, 51 serious injuries, and 153 slight injuries over the past year.
Neighbouring boroughs reported slightly lower figures. Brent logged 2,205 collisions, with 2 serious and 150 slight injuries. Hounslow saw 1,814 collisions (1 fatal, 42 serious, 100 slight pedestrian casualties), while Harrow reported 1,251 (2 fatal, 34 serious, 86 slight), and Hammersmith & Fulham had 1,394 (2 fatal, 31 serious, 95 slight).
Barnet, however, recorded the highest number of road traffic collisions in London, with 2,655 incidents. It also saw 2 pedestrian fatalities, 48 serious injuries, and 141 slight injuries.

Tracey Chick, road traffic accident manager for JF Law said: “Each road traffic incident represents a moment of distress and potential life-altering consequences for those involved.”
Across the UK, road safety appears to be worsening. Department for Transport data shows a 12% rise in road traffic accidents in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Fatal crashes increased by 7%, while serious injuries rose by 15%. Increased road use, adverse weather and distracted driving are cited as key factors.
Speeding, responsible for nearly a third of fatal crashes, and distracted driving – particularly mobile phone use – continue to be leading contributors.
