Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a collision involving an e-scooter in Acton left an elderly pedestrian in a critical condition.
Police were called at about 2.30pm on Friday (23 January 2026) to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a ridden e-scooter travelling westbound along The Vale. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene, where a man in his 80s was treated for serious injuries before being taken to hospital. He remains in a life-threatening condition.
The rider of the e-scooter is believed to have stopped briefly following the collision before abandoning the scooter and leaving the scene on foot. Police said the individual headed along The Vale towards Acton.
The Metropolitan police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the inquiry and is reviewing CCTV footage from the area at the time of the incident. Detectives said they were keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the e-scooter in the moments leading up to it.
Detective Sergeant Fiaz Janjua from the unit said: “Our investigation is ongoing, and we continue to review CCTV footage from the area at the time of the incident. However, we are appealing to the public for assistance and ask that anyone who witnessed the accident to contact police as soon as possible. Any information could be helpful to the investigation.”
