Two Southall community organisations have been awarded grants in the first round of The Green Quarter Community Chest for 2025/26, a funding pot run by Berkeley Group, the developer behind The Green Quarter.
The scheme has distributed £12,000 so far, with £5,000 awarded to Hope for Southall Street Homeless (HSSH) and £7,000 to Ultra Education CIC.
HSSH will use the grant to help cover running costs and staff salaries, supporting outreach and day-centre services for people sleeping rough. Ultra Education will use its funding to deliver a 12-week entrepreneurship and education programme for young people at Parkside Yards, culminating in a market showcase where participants present their products and services.
A total of £25,000 is available in this year’s round, which opened in September 2025, for projects that improve skills, training and employment opportunities, celebrate and protect culture and heritage, support health and wellbeing, promote sustainability, or enhance the local environment. Applications were reviewed with input from a community engagement steering group made up of Southall residents and stakeholders.
Jags Sanghera, head of business and community engagement for The Green Quarter, said: “We were moved by the incredible work that both Hope for Southall Street Homeless and Ultra Education CIC are doing. They tackle key issues that are directly affecting the everyday lives of people who live and work in Southall.”
A second round of grants is due in spring 2026.
