17-year-old boy dies following Park Royal police chase

A 17-year-old boy has died following a police chase that ended in a collision in which the vehicle he was in came to a halt outside Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal. 

The incident occurred during the early hours of Monday (7 October 2024) morning. Emergency services arrived at 5:25am and discovered three males at the scene.

In a statement, Metropolitan Police said: “At approximately 05:25hrs on Monday, 7 October a car that was being pursued by police was in collision in Park Royal Road, W3 outside Central Middlesex Hospital. London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended. Three males – all occupants of the car – were taken to hospital for treatment.

“One of these males, aged 17, subsequently died in hospital. The other two people remain in hospital; one is in a critical condition – the other is not believed to be seriously injured. Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing and road closures remain in place at the location.

“The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed. A referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct who will carry out an independent investigation into the circumstances.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.25am this morning (Monday 7 October) to reports of a road traffic collision in Acton Lane, NW10. We sent several resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, members of our Tactical Response Unit, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance. The first of our crews arrived in three minutes.

“Our crews treated two men at the scene, before taking both to a London major trauma centre by road as a priority.”
