Housing association giant Sovereign Network Group (SNG) has held a topping out ceremony to mark a milestone for 575 new homes being built on its Merrick Place housing development opposite Southall Rail Station.
The development, on a former industrial site, is designed by architect Cartwright Pickard and will consist of four buildings between 15 and 23-storeys and include office and commercial space built by contractor Vistry.

The apartments will be a mix of affordable homes for rent, shared ownership and private rent. There will be no parking on-site for residents and the development, which includes communal garden and play areas, will offer 926 spaces for bicycle parking.
Matt Bird, SNG’s regional managing director (London & East), commented: “We’re really delighted to have reached this significant milestone of what is promising to be a fantastic development delivering much needed new homes in Southall. The mix of homes and commercial space at Merrick Place really does offer the promise of a thriving community over generations aligning with SNG’s mission.”
Mike Woolliscroft, group business improvement director and London Chair at Vistry Group, said: “The Merrick Place development aligns with Vistry Group’s vision to deliver affordable, sustainable housing that meets the evolving needs of London’s communities.”
Councillor Peter Mason, Leader of Ealing Council, said: “The new genuinely affordable homes at Merrick Place will provide our borough with the affordable homes that our residents need and deserve.”
