London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) which runs Ealing Hospital, Central Middlesex Hospital and Northwick Park Hospital has received £7m of government funding to help give patients earlier access to treatments.
LNWH will set up a centre based at Northwick Park Hospital to help improve access to clinical trials and therapies across Ealing and North West London.
Among the areas it will be looking at include diabetes, infectious diseases, cancer, cardiology, respiratory, ophthalmology and bowel diseases.
The new hub will work in partnership with five other organisations: Ealing GP Federation, Hillingdon Hospital, The Confederation Hillingdon CIC, Belmont GP Centre and Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.
Christiana Dinah, director of the North West London Commercial Research Delivery Centre and director of research and innovation at LNWH said: “This is fantastic news for the people of North West London.
“Uniquely positioned as a diverse region of over three million people, we will leverage our existing strong partnerships with local healthcare organisations, research infrastructure across the country and industry while building new relationships to further increase access to innovative therapies and improve the health and wealth of people in North West London and beyond.”
