Stones Fish & Chips on Horn Lane in Acton has been named one of only two London shops shortlisted for the National Fish & Chip Awards 2026, placing the popular local chippy in the running for the industry’s top prize.
It is the third year in a row that Stones has made the shortlist in the coveted Takeaway of the Year category. Forty takeaways from across the UK have been selected, from coastal hotspots and rural villages to city centres, all hoping to take the crown from reigning champion Yarm Road Fish & Chips in Darlington, County Durham.
Judges, including sector specialists, have drawn up the shortlist following initial assessments. Businesses will now undergo further scrutiny on criteria ranging from product quality and hygiene to sustainability, customer service and industry knowledge.
Amine Chaouche, owner of Stones, told EALING.NEWS: “For me, this shortlisting is about more than recognition – it’s a sign that our approach is working. At Stones, we measure success not only by profit but also by effort. Each day I ask myself if I’ve shown up ready to do better than yesterday and moved us closer to our mission: to build a business that makes a positive impact on our customers, team, and community, while supporting a sustainable life for me and my family.”
Mr Chaouche added: “That’s why I dedicate time every week to learning and reflection. I’ve learned that if I grow, the business grows. We’ve built Stones around systems, clarity, and care – and we aim to get 1% better every day, trusting that small improvements compound over time. Every detail, from how we portion a fillet to how we welcome a new staff member, is delivered with the same standard: made with care, every time.
“We’re proud to represent Acton and deeply grateful to the customers who make this journey possible.”
Andrew Crook, president of the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), which runs the awards, said the competition was shaping up to be “a standout year”.
He added: “We’ve received a wonderful collection of entries for Takeaway of the Year – it is the badge of honour that many in the industry strive for, and we are very excited to see new names on the list.”
Winners will be revealed on 25 February 2026 at the Park Plaza in Westminster.
