Ealing’s beavers will take centre stage next month at an LGBTQ+ celebration returning to Greenford and Perivale for a second year.
Big Gay Beaver Day, organised by conservation group Citizen Zoo, will take place at Paradise Fields in Greenford and Horsenden Farm in Perivale and Greenford on 19 September 2026, raising money to help bring beavers back to more parts of London.
The event celebrates the Ealing Beaver Project at Paradise Fields, London’s first urban beaver reintroduction, which is run by Citizen Zoo in partnership with Ealing Wildlife Group, Friends of Horsenden Hill and Ealing Council, with support from the Mayor of London.
The day starts with guided tours of the beaver enclosure, where visitors can learn about the project and may catch a glimpse of the resident beavers.
Celebrations then move to Horsenden Farm, with drag performances from Brent Would and That Girl, DJ sets from Lucy and Ali of 1-800 Dyke Rescue and an arm-wrestling competition hosted by Dyke U-Haul.
Citizen Zoo co-founder and chief executive Lucas Ruzo said: “Big Gay Beaver Day is very special to me as a gay man. It’s been a privilege to work on such a pioneering project for London, and it fills me with pride to be able to share it with the queer community for an evening celebrating nature, community and rewilding.”
The event, which has a maximum capacity of 180 people, is for over-18s and tickets can be bought through Eventbrite.
