Ealing’s University of West London (UWL) has been ranked as number three of all UK universities and number one of all London universities for its environmental and ethical performance in the People & Planet University League.
The last year has seen UWL move up by 10 places from its previous UK ranking of 13 in the report compiled by student campaigning group for social and environmental justice, People & Planet.
Claire Willitts, executive director of property and environment at UWL said: “Placing third out of the 149 universities in the UK is an immense achievement which the whole of UWL should be proud of.”
Ms Willitts added: “It’s a testament to the ongoing work of the University to decarbonise its estate, embed sustainability into the curriculum and integrate a social and environmental consciousness into our culture and operations. Over the next year we will be launching new initiatives and opportunities for staff and students to engage and contribute. We are looking forward to taking this next step on our sustainability journey.”
