Local Ealing Liberal Democrat councillors from the Southfield ward have sent a thank you to the head and staff of Southfield Primary School following OFSTED inspectors who recently rated the school ‘Outstanding’ from a previous ‘Good’ in May 2018.
The inspectors, who were there on 24 May 2023 and 25 May 2023, said they were impressed with the transformation of the school since the appointment of a new Head, Dr Darren Jones in September 2019.
In an extract from the report, inspectors said of the school: “Pupils thrive at Southfield. Leaders have created an extremely ambitious curriculum. This is underpinned by a programme of rich experiences and frequent opportunities for pupils to apply their learning in different contexts. For example, pupils got involved in budgeting for an upcoming visit to a theme park. Leaders’ high ambitions are realised for all pupils. This means that pupils are eloquent and enthusiastic about their learning. They produce work of high quality across the curriculum and are very well prepared for the next stage of their education.”
Southfield is now ranked as the number one school in Ealing Borough for end of KS1 and KS2 SATs results.
Southfield Liberal Democrat Councillor Andrew Steed, Opposition Education Spokesperson said: “Congratulations to the school’s headmaster Dr Jones, his team and all the pupils. In an increasingly difficult educational environment, it is a great achievement to be an outstanding’ school.”
