Two men from Ealing have been jailed after armed police recovered a loaded handgun and five swords from a BMW stopped days after a violent attack in Birmingham last year.
The men were sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court last week (9 July 2026), with West Midlands Police releasing body-worn video footage of the armed stop this week.
Firearms officers intercepted the BMW on the Black Country Route in Wolverhampton three days after a construction worker was seriously assaulted in Birmingham on 12 September 2025. The victim suffered broken legs and a broken arm after being attacked with metal poles and required surgery.
Officers found a handgun loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition in the front passenger footwell, along with five swords and other weapons in the vehicle.
Gurwinder Singh, 25, of Ealing, was jailed for five years and 11 months after admitting possession of a firearm, ammunition and five swords.
Harshehajdeep Singh, 21, also of Ealing, was sentenced to six years and eight months after being found guilty of possessing the firearm, ammunition and swords.
Harpandeep Singh, 23, of Hackney, was jailed for seven years, while Zorawar Singh, 31, of no fixed address, received six years and two months after admitting the same offences.
Detective Constable Kyle Bowering, of West Midlands Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “This investigation has led to the recovery of a loaded gun, as well as swords, which would no doubt have gone on to be used in crime to harm and threaten others.
“These weapons have now been taken off the streets, and those caught with them have been put behind bars for a number of years.”
