A couple in their twenties who were found died at their home in Southall Bank Holiday Monday (26 May 2025) after reportedly taking illicit pills have been named as Gagan Brar, 28, and Kamaldeep Kaur, 20.
The couple were found unresponsive in their bedroom by flatmates, prompting urgent warnings from police and health officials about a potentially lethal batch of illicit drugs containing a potent synthetic opioid believed to be circulating in the area and across London.
According to Metro, Gagan Brar worked as a driver for celebrities in the Bollywood film industry in London and was originally from India. Kamaldeep Kaur, his partner, had recently completed university and was working in the hospitality sector. Friends and flatmates described the couple as kind, hard-working and well-liked by those who knew them.
Emergency services were called to the flat on Havelock Road, where the pair were pronounced dead at the scene.
The pills were initially believed to be blue in colour, but it has since been revealed they were green.
In a statement, Ealing Council said: “Over the Bank Holiday weekend, two people were found dead in Southall, following attendance at a nightclub in South London on Saturday 24 May. They are thought to have consumed green pills with an ’80’ on one face and possibly an ‘OP’ on the other.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson told EALING.NEWS: “Police continue to make enquiries following the sudden deaths of a 28-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman in Ealing on Monday, 26 May.”
They added: “This is following reports that the individuals allegedly passed away after taking an illicit substance in the form of a green pill. No arrests have been made at this time and we’re working closely with our partners including the health service and councils to issue advice to people in the area.”
Ealing Council had earlier issued a public health warning to residents in the borough.
In a statement, Ealing Council said: “Please remember, there is no way of knowing what is in any pill or drug that is bought illegally, or how your body will react.”
It added: “If you, or anyone you are with, starts to feel unwell after taking any pill or drug, go to your nearest Accident and Emergency department or call 999. Always seek medical attention and do not try to sleep it off or drink lots of water.”
