New centre celebrates Black history and culture in Ealing

An event to mark the establishment of a centre in Ealing that celebrates Black history and culture by “finally putting the Ealing Black community on the map” is taking place on Saturday (8 March 2025).

The Caribbean and African Collective, Ealing (CACE) Cultural Centre of Excellence is to launch as a residency space in West Ealing’s SET Ealing with plans to eventually find and operate its own permanent location in the borough.

The CACE project, which was set up as a social enterprise in 2024, has a vision to showcase and celebrate the achievements and contribution Black people make and have played across Ealing and its seven towns.

Michelle Brooks, who grew up in West Ealing and is chair of CACE said: “We decided that it was up to us to create a space for ourselves. Although it’s not a space just for ourselves – everyone is welcome to join us and share the joys of reggae music, amapiano dancing, jollof rice, Windrush theatre, and so much more.”

Ms Brooks added: “We are finally putting the Ealing Black community on the map.”

The launch event, which takes place on International Women’s Day, is from 4pm – 8pm and free to attend at 105-113 St James House, Broadway, London W13 9BE. To register, click here.
