Lloyds Banking Group-owned Halifax is to close its Greenford Broadway branch in June 2026, becoming the latest financial services company to leave the area as customers increasingly turn to digital and telephone banking.
Halifax confirmed that its branch at 41 The Broadway, Greenford, will close on 16 June 2026.
The closure follows a series of bank departures from Greenford Broadway. Barclays Bank shut its branch in October 2022, Santander closed in June 2025, and HSBC previously left the area in 2017.
Explaining the decision, Halifax said: “Before we close any branch, we look at how customers are doing their banking. Most customers prefer to use our mobile app, online banking or call us.” It added: “Because of this, we’ll be closing our Greenford branch.”
Figures published by the bank suggest many customers are already using alternative services. Halifax said 75% had used other Halifax branches and either banked online or called Halifax in the six-month period ending November 2025.
It added that 58% of customers who used the Greenford branch also visited other Halifax branches in the 12 months to November 2025. Around 24% used the branch alongside the Post Office over the same period.
The bank said 877 customers used the branch regularly each month.
The closure will leave Greenford Broadway with only a handful of banking services, with Nationwide and TSB remaining.
