Park Royal’s creative scene takes centre stage at LDF

Park Royal Design District will stage a free weekend of exhibitions, workshops and open studios this weekend (13–14 September 2025) as part of the London Design Festival (LDF).

Now in its fifth year, the non-profit collective has become a key organisation in Park Royal’s shift from an industrial and food manufacturing hub into a base for London’s creative industry and those working within it.

Designated a Creative Enterprise Zone by the Mayor of London, Park Royal is home to makers and designers working in repurposed garages and kitchens.

Sustainability is a key focus of the district, with studios reusing industrial offcuts and reclaimed materials. Work on display this year spans millinery, leathercraft, furniture, glasswork, sustainable fashion and product design.

Among the highlights of the weekend event is 11 Million Dots, one of Europe’s largest artworks, created by Rafael El Baz in collaboration with local residents. Incorporating ambient noise, machinery sounds and more than 120 interviews, Mr El Baz has transformed the recordings into a visual language spread across the six-storey facade of Vantage Data Centers’ LHR21 building.

Grace Williams, the district’s programme director, said: “Visitors to the area are consistently enthused and energised by the thriving creative community here. It is a prime example of the important role artists play in authentically regenerating former industrial areas.”
