July 2024 screening and community updates from ActOne cinema in Acton

Ealing’s only independent community cinema is back open after the short temporary closure last month (June 2024) for essential maintenance and refurbishment.

We are showing thought-provoking Freud’s Last Session, powerful Green Border, enchanting and hopeful Wilding and a triptych fable Kinds Of Kindness.

2 July at 11:30 am our Carers & Babies club will present Freud’s Last Session.

3 July at 4:30 pm, we are showing the closed-captioned performance of Kinds Of Kindness. Our monthly Board Games Night is also on Wednesday 3 July from 6 pm. Free entry – all enthusiasts and all levels are welcome.

4 July at 2:30 pm offers a modified screening of Wilding. Relaxed screenings are weekly autism and dementia-friendly performances designed primarily for our neurodivergent guests. We accept CEA cards and carers and PAs go free.

6 July at 8 pm offers Jazz Night with Trent Pieterse Trio and their guest, trumpeter and composer Luca Stine. Free entry.

10 July at 6 pm, attend the monthly short film open mic night, Sound & Vision. Tickets are only £7 for two hours of short films of all genres and networking drinks at the lounge afterwards.

13 July at 2 pm when Acton will be busy with Acton Carnival and artisan market, we will be showing Mother, Country, a deeply personal documentary that will be followed by a live Q&A with the director Pablo Navarette and his parents who feature in the film.

18 July at 7:30 pm, we present National Theatre Live: Present Laughter, the multi-award-winning production of Noël Coward’s provocative comedy with phenomenal Andrew Scott in a leading role.

21 July at 2 pm hosts another event in our Climate Emergency Series. We warmly invite all to the screening of I Could Never Go Vegan, followed by a live Q&A with the director and producer Thomas Pickering.

25 July we host our popular free Open Mic Night. Sign up from 7:30 pm, performances start at 8 pm on a first-come, first-served basis.

Our usual weekly staples like Carers & Babies Club Tuesdays, closed-captioned screening Wednesdays, relaxed screening Thursdays and our evolving programme can be seen and tickets booked at ActOneCinema.co.uk
