The Hanwell Carnival will return on Saturday 20 June 2026 after organisers said they had exceeded a fundraising target set to bring the event back following a one-year hiatus.
The volunteer-run carnival, one of the longest-running free community events in the UK and first held in 1898, did not take place in 2025 after the organising committee said it was facing rising costs, tougher safety requirements and pressures on a small team. Organisers described the pause as a chance to regroup, raise funds and expand the committee to secure the carnival’s long-term future.

Des McManus from the organisers told EALING.NEWS that the team’s fundraising effort over the past year had put the event “back in the calendar for 2026” and that the group had “exceeded our target” and was “on course for the big day in June 2026”.
Mr McManus added: “It was a very difficult decision to cancel Carnival this year, and we know it was a great disappointment to many people. However it gave us an opportunity to strengthen the organising team, and through the fundraising events we really found out how much the Carnival means to the local community. So now we’re looking forward to 2026 with a determination to give everyone in Hanwell and beyond a great day out.”
Organisers also thanked volunteers, local businesses and residents who supported fundraising events during the year, saying their involvement had been crucial in reviving the carnival.
They said a couple of charitable organisations had provided funding and that the committee was also accepting commercial sponsorship, as it continues to raise money to support the 2026 event and help ensure the carnival’s longevity.
