The Ealing Film Festival has secured a major boost to its annual event with Ealing Studios sponsoring its 2025 Comedy Award.
Founded in 2020, the festival continues to expand its national and international reach. More than 250 entries from 36 countries have already been received for this year’s competition, with three months still remaining before the final submission deadline.
Charlie Fremantle, manager of Ealing Studios, said of becoming involved with the festival: “Ealing Studios, the home of classic British comedy and film, is proud to sponsor the Ealing Film Festival Comedy Award 2025.”
Festival co-founder Annemarie Flanagan described the partnership as a significant step. She said: “We are delighted to have the internationally famous Ealing Studios on board, supporting Ealing Film Festival in this way. We want to encourage more comedy – it’s needed more than ever these days and we urge all filmmakers to submit.”
The festival’s patron, comedian and presenter Mel Giedroyc, also welcomed the announcement and added: “How thrilling that Ealing Studios, the cradle of so many iconic British films, should be sponsoring the magnificent Ealing Film Festival. It’s a match truly made in celluloid heaven.”
Screenings will take place this October at Ealing Picturehouse and Act One cinemas. Alongside comedy, categories include Narrative Drama, Documentary, Sci-Fi and Fantasy, Animation, and a dedicated ‘Homegrown’ section for local filmmakers.
Entries are open via FilmFreeway, with a 20-minute maximum runtime. The deadline for entries is 18 July 2025.
