A replica First World War tank has returned to the roof of Vanguard Self Storage’s iconic building on the A40 between Perivale and Hanger Lane ahead of Remembrance Sunday (8 November 2026).
Named Edwin, the Mark IV replica forms part of a tribute to those who served in wartime, including people who stored, protected and transported supplies for the armed forces.
The tank was commissioned by Vanguard and first placed on the roof in June 2014 to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. It has returned periodically since then.
Will McCullagh, managing director of Vanguard Self Storage: “My family has its own military connections, making Remembrance Day particularly meaningful. It’s important that we remember those who served on the front line, but also the people whose work behind the scenes helped keep the armed forces going. We’re proud to play a small part in keeping that history alive through our collection.”
The tank is among a collection of military vehicles and aircraft owned by the company. A replica Spitfire was displayed on the same rooftop for the 80th anniversary of VE Day last year.
