Clifton Lodge opens new immersive classroom

Pupils at Clifton Lodge School in Ealing can explore the Colosseum and prehistoric landscapes through projected scenes in a new immersive classroom.

The room is part of a £670,000 investment at the prep school on Mattock Lane, which has also added a science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) laboratory and an outdoor classroom.

Teachers will introduce topics in the immersive room with a question for pupils to investigate.

The STEM laboratory has a 3D printer and green screen. Outside, younger pupils can use a mud kitchen and bug hotel, while older pupils read and discuss subjects around a fire pit.

Michael Belsito, headteacher at Clifton Lodge School, said: “It is great to see our children excited and engaged with learning across a whole range of subjects.”

The school is considering projects with local organisations, including Ealing Studios, Questors Theatre and care homes. One idea is for pupils to record residents’ memories as digital storybooks.
