Plans for a 16-storey building containing around 240 co-living studios on the site of a former squash club in Ealing Broadway have been unveiled.
Developers Kebbell and Thirdi Group want to redevelop 41 Haven Green, close to Ealing Broadway station, and are inviting local residents to have their say before submitting a planning application to Ealing Council.
The site was granted planning permission in 2019 for a nine-storey building containing 50 homes and a sports and fitness club, but the scheme was never built.
The latest proposals would replace the previously approved plans with a 16-storey building containing around 240 co-living studios. Unlike conventional flats, residents would have their own private living space but share facilities including kitchens, dining areas and lounges.
Explaining how the accommodation would work, the developers say: “Residents would have their own private studio, with shared spaces for cooking, meeting, working and relaxing.”
There would also be meeting rooms, areas where residents could work, and a rooftop terrace.
The proposed building would be seven storeys taller than the one previously approved and would stand next to the Haven Green Conservation Area. The developers are looking at how it might affect daylight and sunlight reaching neighbouring properties, while also proposing landscaping and improvements to Haven Mews.
A community space is also proposed on the ground floor, with local people being asked what they would like it to be used for.
Kebbell is a Buckinghamshire-based housebuilder with developments across London and the Home Counties, while Thirdi Group is an Australian property developer which expanded into the UK in 2018.
Residents have until 25 October 2026 to comment on the plans through the consultation website at 41havengreen.co.uk.
A planning application is expected to be submitted to Ealing Council later this year, with a decision anticipated in spring 2027.
