On 7 May 2026, residents in the East Acton ward will vote to choose who represents them at Ealing Council.
EALING.NEWS has asked all candidates standing to become a councillor, 7 questions about who they are, what they hope to deliver and why they want residents to vote for them.
Here’s what Sam Diamond standing for Ealing Green Party in East Acton, has to say:
Tell us about yourself, your priorities, and why you want to be a councillor for East Acton?
My name is Sam Diamond and I am standing in East Acton ward for the Green Party. I have lived in Ealing for 40 years in several parts of the borough.
I work as a freelance sound technician in broadcast television, as such I am used to the vagaries of short term contracts and being in and out of work.
My priorities are environmental and social. I believe in a cohesive society and that we must all try and get along despite our differences and not shut ourselves off from people who don’t look the same as us.
I want to be on the council to hold Labour to account for their poor decision making.
What motivates you?
The environment is a place we all live in. As this is degraded we all suffer .Whilst I understand that in the short term it’s easy to ignore this the problem is not going away.
What is your own personal connection to either East Acton or any other part of the borough?
I primarily moved to Ealing for work at Ealing Studios and Television Centre and have lived here ever since. I live just south of East Acton ward and so am very connected with the local area
What do you consider to be your 3 top political, work or personal achievements and what impact have they had?
As one of the two longest serving members of Ealing Green Party I am proud to see it grow from a small fringe party to one that can now seriously challenge to get elected.
As a freelancer just keeping in work for 40 years is an achievement!
Personally like most of us my family is my best personal achievement
What do you consider to be the top 3 challenges East Acton faces and how will you as a councillor address them?
1. Overdevelopment
This part of Ealing has more high density housing than other parts of the borough. Letting developers build flats that cost from £400,000 upwards does not help the housing crisis
2. Anti social behaviour is a curse on local communities and stops the social cohesion that I would like to see improve
3. Lack of green space. Open spaces help to ease the pressure brought on by high density housing and improve people’s sense of community
What do you love about East Acton and the Borough of Ealing?
I live close to south Acton park and it’s a great green open space that feels very important in a big city like London.
It also has excellent transport links ! There are 7 tube and train stations in Acton than any other part of London.
With good bus routes as well you don’t need a car to get around the city.
How accessible will you be to East Acton ward residents and how can they get in contact with you now and if elected how will you ensure you are accessible to them in the future?
As someone who lives locally I am well placed to go and see people and the problems that they have
