Trailfinders Women’s Megan Jones will captain England in this year’s Women’s Six Nations after being named in the Red Roses squad.
Jones, who served as vice-captain during the Women’s Rugby World Cup, steps up to lead the side heading into the 2026 tournament. She said: “It’s a huge honour to have been named captain of the Red Roses. John Mitchell and I have built a strong relationship over the past three years and it’s a great feeling to have his trust to lead the group along with a tight leadership team.”
She is also being joined in the England squad by fellow Trailfinders players Abi Burton and Annabel Meta.
Back rower Burton is also included after representing England at the 2025 World Cup, while Meta receives her first senior call-up for a Women’s Six Nations campaign.
The versatile forward, who can play in both the back row and front row, has progressed through the Trailfinders pathway, moving from partner college Henley to Brunel University and into the Trailfinders Women’s side before earning international recognition. She has previously represented England at age-grade level.
England begin their Six Nations campaign against Ireland on 11 April 2026 at Allianz Twickenham, as the Red Roses look to build on recent success under head coach John Mitchell.
