School performance explores risks of alcohol

More than 200 Year 8 students at Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls in Acton took part in an interactive theatre performance on Wednesday (18 March 2026) exploring the risks of alcohol use and the pressures young people can face from their peers.

The production, Smashed Live, from Collingwood Learning, combined drama with workshop discussion to examine underage drinking, peer influence and decision-making. Students were invited to engage directly with the storyline, including the chance to change its ending and watch the consequences unfold in real time.

A teacher at the school said: “We were very delighted to have Collingwood Learning working with our year 8 students today. This performance not only raises awareness of the influence of peer pressure but empowers our students in understanding the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship. The students were fully engaged throughout, and the opportunity to change the ending based on their own ideas was particularly effective.”

The visit formed part of a wider London tour reaching more than 2,000 pupils across nine schools. Now in its 21st year, the programme has been performed in dozens of countries, using theatre and discussion to support PSHE education and encourage informed choices around alcohol and substance use.
