Match report: Uxbridge 3 v Hanwell Town 1

Hanwell Town’s short trip down the M4 to play west London rivals, Uxbridge, ended in a 3-1 defeat on Tuesday evening (17 March 2026), as they bowed out of the Middlesex Charity Cup.

In contrast to what was a relatively amiable affair for a derby match, the Geordies finished the match with just nine players following two second-half red cards and ultimately fell victim to a good Uxbridge side.

Profiting from a Sean Fraser and Dwayne Duncan defensive mix-up, Uxbridge’s George Moore opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a smart finish.

Hanwell responded well – with Joe Waight and Luke Cook creating good opportunities, but without anything to show for their sustained spell of pressure, it was the ever-dangerous Joe Lawal who doubled Uxbridge’s lead on 71 minutes.

The Geordies’ misery was further compounded nine minutes later as Eli Oladunjoye was shown a straight red for a late – albeit relatively innocent looking – challenge on Cole Brown.

To their credit, Hanwell did manage to pull a goal back in the 85th minute – with Fraser finding himself free on the edge of the penalty area, before coolly slotting home.

But it proved to be a mere consolation as the game finished with Duncan seeing red after a second yellow card, quickly followed by Moore securing his second goal of the evening to make it 3-1.

Hanwell’s attention switches back to the league on Saturday as they travel to Taunton Town, before returning to The Oliver Connell and Son Community Stadium on Tuesday 24 March to play Evesham United (tickets can be found here).
