UWL graduates pack Twickenham stadium

University of West London students began two days of graduation ceremonies on Tuesday (2 December 2025) at Allianz Stadium Twickenham, as the university and its partner institutions marked the end of years of study with family and friends in attendance.

Three ceremonies were held on the first day for graduands from the Claude Littner Business School, the Centre for the Enhancement in Learning and Teaching, the Institute for Policing Studies, the schools of law, medicine and biosciences, and computing and engineering, alongside students from partner institutions.

UWL is also awarding 10 honorary degrees over the two days to individuals recognised for achievements in fields including professional sport, technology, law, medicine and policing. Among those honoured on Tuesday were Jon Varney, the chief executive of Brentford FC; Rajesh Sinha, founder and chair of Fulcrum Digital; Helen Pidgeon, the solicitor and UWL law graduate; Martin Birchall, a professor of laryngology at UCL; Steve Ashman, a former chief constable; and Deborah Green, chief executive of UCISA.

Opening the ceremonies, Pro Chancellor Jennifer Bernard told graduates: “The world certainly needs people like you who can change things for the better.”
