Three Wetherspoon pubs in Ealing have been praised for the quality of their real ale, earning a place in the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide 2026.
The Sir Michael Balcon on The Mall, Ealing; Northolt’s The Greenwood Hotel in Whitton Avenue West and the Red Lion & Pineapple in Acton High Street are among those selected for inclusion in the UK’s best-selling beer and pub guide, published on Thursday.
Local CAMRA branch members chose the pubs after making regular visits to sample the beer on tap. Their assessments also took into account customer service, décor and atmosphere, with both pubs judged to meet the standards of the annual guide.
A CAMRA spokesperson said: “The pubs deserve their place in the Good Beer Guide 2026. If a licensee serves an excellent pint of real ale, everything else – from customer service to food and atmosphere – is likely to be of an equally high standard.”
At the Red Lion & Pineapple, pub manager Alessandro Piano said staff were “delighted” with the recognition. “We offer our customers an excellent range of real ales, including those from regional brewers and microbrewers, as well as hosting our own beer festivals. Staff work hard to ensure that the real ales are kept in first-class condition at all times.”
The guide, which has been published annually since 1972, is considered the definitive handbook for pubgoers and features thousands of venues nationwide.
