A full-scale replica of a Supermarine Spitfire has been mounted on the roof of Vanguard Self Storage’s iconic West London building on the A40 between Perivale and Hanger Lane, marking the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
Vanguard unveiled the aircraft ahead of the commemorations on 15 September 2025. The Spitfire will be visible to thousands of motorists travelling the busy route. Vanguard said the aircraft stands as “a powerful symbol of British engineering excellence and the courage of the men and women who defended the nation during World War II”.
Will McCullagh, managing director of Vanguard, told EALING.NEWS: “The Spitfire is a timeless symbol of British courage and resilience. Its critical role in defending our skies during the Battle of Britain remains a defining moment in our history. We are proud to display our replica Spitfire to mark the 85th anniversary of this historic event.”
