September 2025 is buzzing with special events at ActOne Cinema, featuring live concerts, in-person Q&As with incredible guest speakers, the Hong Kong Film Festival’s family-friendly event, and all monthly staples, plus an extensive selection of films!

- The Life of Chuck: A life-affirming, genre-bending fantasy story about three life chapters of an ordinary man, Charles Krantz.
- Eddington: Ari Aster’s satire about a small town where tensions run high during the global pandemic in May 2020.
- The Roses: All’s fair when love is war, but things are about to get thorny for Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch in this fresh take on a classic, The War of the Roses.
Coming Soon – From Friday, 5, 12 and 19 September
- Sorry, Baby – Something bad happened to Agnes, but life goes on for everyone else. Intense and hopeful black comedy drama written and directed by Eva Victor in their stunning filmmaking debut. Co-starring are Naomi Ackie and Lucas Hedges.
- Oslo Stories Trilogy: Sex – The last film in Dag Johan Haugerud’s intimate triptych on relationships, gender, sexuality and identity via the lens of contemporary Norway.
- Unmoored – Innocence is in the eyes of the beholder. Suspenseful, slow-burning Swedish noir is an atmospheric psychological thriller, inviting audiences to draw their own conclusions.
- Young Mothers – Dardenne brothers return with a Cannes-winner for Best Screenplay, a social-realist drama following five adolescent mothers living in a maternal support home in Belgium. A candid, true-to-life portrait of the struggles and a moving portrayal of real lives.
- Caught Stealing – Darren Aronofsky directs Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Regina King, Liev Schreiber and an irresistible cat in a fast-paced, entertaining crime thriller packed with eccentric characters.
- Jaws 50th anniversary – Steven Spielberg’s legendary classic, winner of three Academy Awards, turns 50 – and deserves to be seen on a bigger screen!
- Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale – The cinematic return of the global phenomenon. Eagerly awaited third and final movie in the Downton Abbey saga follows the Crawley family and their staff as they enter the 1930s.
- Spinal Tap II: The End Continues – Forty-one years later, this long-awaited sequel reunites the crew and cast as they reprise their iconic roles as the legendary heavy metal band.
- Big Boys – A teenage boy’s unexpected crush turns a camping trip into a weekend of self-discovery in this heartwarming coming-of-age comedy, starring a Best Breakthrough Performance from lead talent Isaac Krasner.
- Paul & Paulette Take a Bath – An unconventional romantic comedy about finding a surprising joy in the darker corners of humanity.
- Deaf – Winner of Berlinale’s Audience Award, Eva Libertad’s immersive drama follows a young expecting couple: Angela, who is deaf, and her hearing partner, Hector. Both are preparing to become parents while experiencing the world differently.
- Steve – Set in the mid-90s, Steve is a reimagining of Max Porter’s Sunday Times bestseller, Shy. The film follows a pivotal 24 hours in the life of the headteacher Steve, played by the always excellent Academy Award-winning Cillian Murphy, and his students at a last-chance reform school.
- From Ground Zero: Stories From Gaza – A compelling project that brings together 22 short films, each presenting a unique perspective on the current reality in Gaza.
- Signs of Life – A moving, poignant drama following mid-life lost souls thrown together in sunny Lanzarote whilst attempting to find their way through their individual personal crises. See it followed by a live Q&A on Saturday, 6 September.

National Theatre Live Broadcast: Inter Alia – Thu 4 September, 7.00 pm
Broadcast LIVE at the same time it is being performed at the National Theatre, for one night only (recorded encore will be shown on Sunday 21st). Oscar-nominated Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Saltburn) is Jessica in the much-anticipated next play from the team behind Prima Facie.
Ade Onayiga & Ray Hardy Live Concert – Fri 5 September, 7.30 pm
Ade Onayiga, dubbed the 21st-century Billy Withers, and saxophonist Ray Hardy will showcase an eclectic song list, re-interpreting classic songs from R&B/soul, blues/rock, jazz/pop and easy listening. Ade will also perform a few original songs from his upcoming album, scheduled for release later this year. The live concert is held in the Lounge.
Signs of Life + Live Q&A – Saturday 6 September, 5.15 pm
The screening of the moving, poignant drama, following the mid-life lost souls, will be followed by a live Q&A with the writer/director Joseph Millson (Winner of Best Feature Film at the London Independent Film Festival 2025, and the Berlin Indie Film Festival 2025), and a supporting actress, Sharon Duce.
Sound & Vision: Short Film Open Mic Night – Wed 10 September, 7.00 pm
Enjoy an evening of film community creativity. Short films of various genres that are followed by a meet-and-greet and networking session with filmmakers. £7 tickets.
Eyes of Gaza + Live Q&A with Dr. Nizam Mamode – Thu 11 September, 7.30 pm
The screening of two important documentaries (Eyes of Gaza and Gaza Gasping) will be followed by a live Q&A with Dr. Nizam Mamode, who will speak of his experiences as a volunteer surgeon in an emergency medical team in Gaza, organised by Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) in 2024.
Untitled Comedy – Fri 12 September, 7.00 pm
Stand-up talents take the stage, MC’d by UC’s founder Ryan Denham. Expect laughs, surprises, a prize for one lucky audience member and a great atmosphere. Free entry.
Downton Abbey + Q&A with the crew & cast – Wed 17 September, 7.00 pm
The eagerly awaited third and final movie in the Downton Abbey saga is here. Join us for this special screening, followed by an exclusive Q&A with actress Penelope Wilton (who plays Lady Merton in the film) alongside Executive Producer Liz Truebridge, Director Simon Curtis and Production Designer Donal Woods.

Corina Kwami Duo Live Concert – Sat 20 September, 7.30 pm
American vocalist and accomplished dancer, Corina Kwami, has been heavily influenced by dances such as rhythm tap, samba and West African dance, bringing a unique rhythmic take rooted in movement and storytelling that blends cultures, like jazz has for decades. Her show in duo will feature her global repertoire of jazz, sambas and some originals with special guest, Clement Regert on guitar.
NT Live: Inter Alia (Encore) – Sun 21 September, 2.30 pm
The recording of the National Theatre Live performance of Inter Alia, led by the incredible Rosamund Pike, starring as a Crown Court Judge Jessica, whose life is thrown off balance. From the team behind the hugely successful Prima Facie.
Hamilton 10th Anniversary – Fri 26, Sat 27 and Sun 28 September
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of HAMILTON, the recording of the original Broadway cast is hitting the big screen for a limited 3-day engagement. The filmed version of the original Broadway production of Hamilton combines the best elements of live cinema and film to create a thrilling experience. Winner of 11 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
Hong Kong Film Festival: A Taste of Connection: Sweets and Stories from Hong Kong and Japan – Sat 27 September, 2.30 pm
Family-friendly HKFF event – two beautiful short films and a cross-cultural mochi-making demonstration. Tickets include 2 mochis and a drink. The event is co-curated and presented in partnership with Ealing and Northfields Hong Kong Club and supported by the BFI.
Mario Bakuna Live Concert: Bossa Nova, A Tribute to João Gilberto – Sat 27 September, 7.30 pm
Join Mario Bakuna, a Brazilian composer, arranger, vocalist, and guitarist with over 20 years of professional experience, in celebrating the legacy of João Gilberto, the legendary Brazilian musician and pioneering father of Bossa Nova. In this heartfelt tribute, Mario Bakuna presents reinterpretations of Gilberto’s work alongside his own original compositions. Audiences can expect a rich blend of traditional samba elements, syncopated rhythms of plucked chords, and the breezy sophistication that defines Bossa Nova.
The Line We Crossed + Live Q&A – Sun 28 September, 12.30 pm
A British story of dissent, drawn from the frontlines of climate resistance. Through the experiences of those who stood in defiance, it traces the quiet unravelling of our protest rights. The film challenges audiences to question what makes dissent effective and where the line of acceptability is. The award-winning filmmaker Liz Smith will join us for a live Q&A after the screening of her urgent and timely documentary.
