Walpole Park will be buzzing with youthful creativity this Wednesday (30 July) as the New Gen Festival makes its much-anticipated return. The annual event celebrates music, dance and self-expression and is created by and for young people aged 16 to 25.
Entry is priced accessibly at £3 for under-25s and £5 for others. Organised through a partnership of youth-led organisations and supported by Arts Council England, the event blends cutting-edge talent with community inclusion.
On the main stage, producer Ren Renatus – who helped launch the careers of Jamal Edwards and Fumez the Engineer will be curating an energetic programme. Dance takes centre stage from 2-4pm with “Battle of the Boroughs”, followed by back-to-back music from 5-9pm.
Beyond music, the festival offers interactive zones and workshops – from football and rugby with Brentford FC and Ealing Trailfinders, to gaming, manga drawing and wellness spaces. The Amplify Stage open mic welcomes all forms of bold, original creativity, from drag to spoken word.
Speaking to EALING.NEWS, Robin Vaughan-Williams, community events producer at Ealing Council said: “One of the wonderful things about New Gen is seeing the community and collaborations it’s building behind the scenes and how it’s bringing together artists at different stages of their career who started out in Ealing.”
Mr Vaughn-Williams added: “It’s also an inclusive space, with drag acts on the Amplify Stage courtesy of Middlesex Pride, the Youth Social Network (a forum for young people with additional needs) organising the Gaming Zone, and a strong representation of artists from global majority backgrounds. We want everyone to have fun, discover something new, and express themselves in a way that feels right to them, whether it’s music, dance, manga, or yoga.”
