Councillors across Ealing are united in their plan to honour Lioness winning goal scorer Chloe Kelly by giving her Freedom of the Borough.
The 24-year-old Man City player who attended Elthorne Park High School in Hanwell, scored the winning goal yesterday (30 July 2022) at Wembley Stadium during extra time which resulted in England’s 2-1 win against Germany in the Euro 2022 final.
In a tweet, Councillor Deirdre Costigan, deputy leader of Labour-run Ealing Council said of the Chloe who grew up in Hanwell: ‘We are so proud of local England footballer, Chloe Kelly. We would like to offer Chloe Freedom of the Borough for her amazing achievements & I will be recommending this happens asap.”

The announcement today follows Conservative Councillor Gregory Stafford who tweeted last night that he would be proposing Chloe gets Freedom of Ealing.
He said: “We rightly gave @BukayoSaka87 the Freedom of the Borough in #Ealing earlier this year. I will be proposing @Chloe_Kelly98 for the same honour!”

Liberal Democrat Councillor Gary Malcolm, leader of the opposition said: “Usually we give out the freedom of the borough honour every four years but the great result at the weekend shows we should honour Chloe Kelly very soon. She is an inspiration and she will have encouraged many others in Ealing to take up football.”
