Southall’s food scene has a new arrival as Brilliant Gastro, the latest venture from celebrity chef Dipna Anand, officially opened its doors last week.
The gastropub, based at Parkside Yards in The Green Quarter by Berkeley, launched on 24 April 2025 with a community celebration.
Among those attending were the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Yvonne Johnson, Ealing Southall MP Deirdre Costigan, local councillors and family and friends The ribbon was cut by the children of co-owner Shanker Anand, Dipna’s brother.
The new venture marks a fresh chapter for the Anand family. It follows the recent closure of their iconic Brilliant Restaurant earlier this month (7 April 2025) which served the community for 50 years. The popularity of Brilliant Restaurant saw a loyal following from not just locals but also people across the world and even His Majesty King Charles III naming it one of his favourite places for a curry.
The new Parkside Yards location will also be the home for Ms Anand’s cookery school, giving food fans a chance to learn directly from the renowned chef.
The new menu offers a bold mash-up of traditional and contemporary dishes including chicken biryani arancini, charred spiced cauliflower steak, crazy corn chilli ribs and banging chicken tikka burger. For those who like something sweet, the gastropub is offering a selection of desserts including gulab jamun bomb and a cardamom-infused sticky toffee pudding.
Speaking at the launch, Dipna Anand said: “For over 50 years our family poured our hearts into The Brilliant. It wasn’t just a restaurant, it was our second home, our childhood, our everything. The aim is to take the legacy of the Brilliant further, and instead of packing it away, give it a new home. A new heartbeat. This is our new baby, born out of family and built on tradition.”
Marcus Blake, managing director of St George, the developer behind The Green Quarter, added: “Dipna and the Anand family have such a rich history here in Southall. and the Brilliant brand is truly iconic. It’s wonderful to see how they are evolving, to bring a fresh and exciting dining experience in the form of Brilliant Gastro. I have a feeling this is going to be very popular spot for the existing Brilliant fan base, our residents and community alike.”
