Trailfinders Women have pulled off a major signing ahead of the 2025-26 season, confirming the arrival of Megan Jones, vice-captain of the England women’s rugby team, the Red Roses.
The 27-year-old, who can play at centre or fly-half, brings significant experience from both the 15s and 7s formats of the game. Having previously impressed with Bristol Bears and Wasps, Jones joined Leicester Tigers for the 2023-24 campaign, further cementing her reputation as one of England’s standout midfielders.

Jones made her international debut for England against New Zealand in 2015, aged just 18, and has since gone on to earn 24 caps. She played a key role in England’s triumph at the inaugural WXV tournament in New Zealand and was a central figure in this year’s Six Nations Grand Slam victory under head coach John Mitchell. Appointed vice-captain for the competition, Jones has already contributed three tries and three assists.
Her achievements extend beyond the 15-a-side game. In 7s, she claimed gold for Team GB at the 2023 European Games in Poland and is set to feature in the British squad for the Paris Olympics this summer.
Speaking after the announcement, Jones said: “I’m really looking forward to joining Trailfinders Women and challenging myself in a new environment. The Club has that community feel which I love, and there’s a passion and ambition to push on that really excites me. I really like the way the team play, and I can’t wait to join up with the group and get going.”
Trailfinders’ head coach, Barney Maddison, hailed her arrival as a major coup. He said: “Megan is a world-class player with a remarkable rugby pedigree. Her experience both at the domestic and international levels will bring invaluable leadership to our squad. We’re thrilled to have her join the club and look forward to seeing her elevate our game both on and off the pitch.”
