Professor Brian Cox inspires Hanwell students

Elthorne Park High School in Hanwell buzzed with excitement last week when physicist Professor Brian Cox dropped by to inspire students to consider careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

The visit was part of The King’s Trust’s Achieve Programme – an initiative which aims to build confidence and equip young people with essential skills for life beyond the classroom.

During his visit, Professor Cox said: “In the past, I’ve come across students who don’t know anyone that works in the industry that they dream of entering. The King’s Trust gives me the opportunity to make connections with students, which I think is really important. With the right support, I think it’s much more likely that that student will go on to follow their dreams.”

The visit marks the latest step in a wider national effort to improve educational opportunities, bolstered by a new partnership between The King’s Trust and Omaze UK. The collaboration has launched the Omaze Education Fund, aimed at supporting further outreach work across the UK.

In a statement, The King’s Trust said: “At The King’s Trust, we’re dedicated to providing young people with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. Through collaborations with inspiring figures like Professor Brian Cox and partnerships such as the one with Omaze, we’re working to create a brighter future for the next generation.”
