Ealing Council’s adult learning service, Learn Ealing has held its annual event to celebrate the success of its learners who have gone on to further education or getting work.
The Celebration of Achievement ceremony held at the DoubleTree Hilton in Ealing Common last week (27 November 2024) was attended by learners, tutors and the Learn Ealing team. They were joined by the deputy mayor of Ealing, Councillor Anthony Kelly and the council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal.
Among the workshops and courses run, many of which are free, include health and wellbeing, ESOL, English and maths, creative arts, languages, computing and family learning.
This year’s winners were:
Samar Alakriras: leadership and mentorship that empowered classmates to succeed
Neil Hayward and Klaudia Kinga Imiolek:exceptional progress in employability skills
Sana Lamkhakh: significant growth in self-esteem and confidence
Grace Raw: impeccable punctuality and attendance despite overcoming significant challenges
Simon Rodrigues: outstanding development within a term
Three tutors were also recognised:
Jane Ferret: championing inclusive learning and teaching excellence
Daniel Gilson: innovation in subject-specific adult teaching
Viktorija Trunova: best overall tutor
Councillor Nagpal said: “Congratulations to all the award winners and nominees for their incredible hard work and commitment this past academic year. It was such a pleasure to see the outstanding growth and dedication of all the learners and tutors who were showcased. It’s inspiring to see how far they have come.”
Councillor Nagpal added: “Thanks to the Learn Ealing team and our partners for their continuous support in helping local people access training and development opportunities.
