More than 20 children from African and Caribbean descent in Ealing have been recognised at the 17th Annual Dr John Roberts QC. MBE award ceremony which took place on 2 July 2022 at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Ealing Common.

Organised by Descendents, a 29-year-old charity for young people with its main focus on African and Caribbean culture, nominations came from across Ealing and its primary schools, secondary schools and special educational needs for categories including ‘the pupil that excels in all areas of their education’ , ‘student that achieve against all odds’, ‘students that excel in the arts’, ‘sports’, ‘entrepreneurial qualities’, and ‘future leader qualities’.
The awards ceremony which included a three course meal, and entertainment was attended by students, nominating teachers, parents and a host of special guests, including the Mayor of Ealing, Mrs Eulette Roberts, wife of the late Dr John Roberts for whom the awards are held in honour of and special guest speaker Marcus Gayle (Brentford Football club Ambassador).
